Why the alert?
It is for a few reasons.
The 1st is we have the USDA report on Tuesday. That offers risk.
The 2nd is we are approaching our target and key resistance on March corn.
$4.37 claws back 50% of the highs from November. This same level is our old key support (black lines).
The rally off harvest lows clawed back 50% of the highs from February before failing. That same level was old key support in the spring (blue lines).
The 3rd is that seasonally the second half of February does tend to be weak for corn with first notice day.
Here is the seasonal pattern for May corn to give you a good visual. We tend to struggle going into March and first notice day.
Corn has actually traded lower the last 8 of 11 years from February 14th until the end of the month.
