Why the alert?
Jan feeders have hit our first target.
They have now perfectly reclaimed 50% of this entire sell off.
Between here and the 61.8% level is where the market often reverts back to before making a decision.
We also perfectly tagged the 50-day MA today. This used to be key support all year long. Old support is viewed as new resistance.
The secondary target would be the 61.8% level and the gap fill.
Here is another look at how big of support the 50-day used to be.
Live cattle has not yet hit that first target. Sitting just below it.
However this signal is for live cattle as well. Due to feeders hitting the target.
If live cattle crawls up into this box, we will likely be de-risking even further.
For example, let’s say live cattle comes up to that 50-day MA, while at the same time feeders came up to that 61.8% level instead of the 50% level they hit today while filling that gap. We would then take more risk off the table.
Another thing to note:
Open interest has been decreasing on this rally. Meaning this rally is from shorts exiting the market. Not fresh new longs entering the market. It is hard to push to new highs when this is happening.
